I decided to go with the sea green as it allows the other more orange characters to stand out better.
I've also kept the tessellation motif from the wrapping paper as this is a prominent design decision that runs across the range.
Edit:
Ruler insert. Decided not to go with the pirates on the ruler and just use the Jolly Rodger instead. I thought too many pirates would be over kill. Also, I couldn't get them to tessellate on such a small scale.
