I wouldn't be fair to make a book about insulting stereotypes without laughing at myself. I'm a comic geek. A nerd. For years I was a Marvel Zombie. (someone who only buys from Marvel) The last 3 years saw an over haul of that and now I buy issues/trades that I think are going to entertain me and inspire me.
“I can't tell you how many times people have come up to me and said, 'I know who you based that comic book guy on. It's that comic-book guy right down the block.' And I have to tell them, 'No, it's every comic-bookstore guy in America.'"
And as this is about stereotyping, I know a 'comic book guy' and it's one of the reasons I avoided York's branch of Traveling Man when I was old enough to go on my own.

I like to think I'm not this guy. That's a lie.
Groening noted:Comic Book Geeks/Nerds are said to be obsessive about their collection and about being right all the time about certain facts. (Wolverine and Sabertooth are not brothers. Stupid movie.)
